Time flies when we’re having fun and it’s already time to kick off Season 6 of the Local Knowledge Fishing Show on April 4, 2021, at 7 AM on the Discovery Channel.

Ali Hussainy of Southern California and Capt. Rush Maltz of the Florida Keys are back in the action as they explore new tackle, techniques, and destinations in this brand-new season.

Season 6 of the Local Knowledge Fishing Show kicks off on April 4, 2021, at 7 AM on the Discovery Channel.

They kick off Season 6 with a winter-time trip to Rush’s hometown of Key West, Florida.  They make the best of a windy day with some light tackle patch reef fishing for a mixed bag of snapper and grouper.  Hopes are high that the next full-moon weather window will allow them to chase the sometimes-elusive offshore zebras – wahoo.

“To be honest, Rush and I admit to the fact that trolling isn’t our first-choice method of fishing,” said Ali.  “But we also know that sometimes it’s the ticket for searching out and finding the fish.”

Using new straight-tracking Nomad lures in several styles, the boys put out an exploratory wahoo spread and begin to cover some ground at 10-knots.

“I don’t really know where these wahoo come from or where they’re going, but wintertime is when they arrive in the Keys,” say’s Capt. Rush.  “The one thing I do know is that any calm winter day you stand a good chance to find and catch these awesome fish.”
